
Aaron Wergifker
They say a picture is worth 1000 words... so let's start with a picture.
Fantastic, isn't it? A little strange, sure, but quite fantastic.
That is Argentine soccer player Aaron Wergifiker, and, yes, those little guys are not gnomes, they are rabbis. (Gnome rabbis?) Before we get to them, Wergifiker was:
Excellent defender for the River Plate club in the 1930s, winning a number of championships One of the first non-Argentina born players to play for its national team (he was born in Brazil to a family of Russian immigrants) Renamed "Perez" because "Wergifker" was really, really hard to pronounce The first Jewish player to play for the Argentina national team!
Those rabbis are saying "Aaronitos is the best Argentine player". We're gonna have to agree!
