Alfred Wegener, born in Berlin, was a man ahead of his time, which is usually a fancy way of saying everyone else was behind. A meteorologist by trade, he decided to dabble in geology, much to the chagrin of established geologists who likely viewed him as a meddling weather forecaster with wild ideas about land masses going for a stroll.
