Born in Hamburg, Germany, Aniela Jaffé was a prominent figure in the world of Jungian psychology. After fleeing Nazi Germany due to her family's Jewish background, she settled in Switzerland, where her intellectual path converged with that of the legendary Carl Jung. Their collaboration, particularly on Jung's autobiography "Memories, Dreams, Reflections," solidified her place in the field, even if it primarily involved transcribing and editing the master's thoughts.

While her ancestral ties may have briefly threatened her safety in pre-war Europe, Jaffé herself did not identify as Jewish nor practice Judaism. Her intellectual pursuits lay firmly within the realm of the collective unconscious, archetypes, and dream analysis, far from any synagogue or menorah.

Her contributions to Jungian thought, though often in the shadow of her mentor, were significant, including works like "Myth of Meaning" and "From the Life and Work of C.G. Jung." She dedicated her life to preserving and articulating Jung's complex ideas, effectively becoming his literary guardian angel, ensuring his theories saw the light of day, albeit often through her meticulous pen. She died in Zurich in 1991.
