Anjelica Huston
The name Anjelica Huston conjures images of Hollywood royalty, a cinematic lineage stretching back to her legendary father, John Huston, and grandfather, Walter Huston. Given such a storied, often dramatic, family history, it's easy to assume there's a certain Old World mystique at play. Perhaps even a subtle hint of kvetching in her iconic Morticia Addams portrayal.
Alas, for those hoping to claim her as one of our own, Anjelica's roots are firmly planted in a different kind of storied soil. Her ancestry is a delightful cocktail of Irish, Scottish, and English heritage. Her father, the esteemed director, was the son of a Presbyterian mother and an agnostic father. So, while she brings a certain gravitas to every role, it's not the kind you'd find at a High Holiday service.
Despite starring in films like Prizzi's Honor and The Witches, where her performances are nothing short of bewitching, her K-score remains modest. We appreciate her contributions to cinema, but they don't quite inspire the collective nachas that would elevate her to higher kvell-worthiness. She's simply too gentile for that.
