Aryabhata, born in what is now modern-day Bihar, India, was a true intellectual trailblazer. While many ancient cultures struggled with the notion of 'nothing,' Aryabhata embraced it, providing the world with the decimal system and the concept of zero. Without him, we'd still be counting on our fingers and toes, and your bank account would be much harder to balance.

His groundbreaking work, the Aryabhatiya, wasn't just about numbers; he also made significant strides in astronomy. He accurately calculated the length of a sidereal year, understood the rotation of the Earth, and explained solar and lunar eclipses. Essentially, he was the original STEM superstar, predicting celestial mechanics centuries before anyone in the West caught on.

Despite his profound influence on mathematics and science globally, particularly through Arabic translations that eventually reached Europe, Aryabhata had absolutely no known connection to Judaism. His contributions were purely academic and, dare we say, universal, transcending any single cultural or religious identity.
