Asa Germann
We've been watching "Gen V", a companion series to "The Boys" that takes place on a college campus. Your enjoyment might vary based on how much you can tolerate the visuals of penises exploding, which... okay. But this got us thinking: Why are these actors so old?
We understand why high-school based series cast older actors: it's an easy way to circumvent child labor laws. Of course, you then get thirty-somethings on 90210, but it's a small price to pay. But "Gen V" is set at college. They are playing adults. Why are they all in the late 20s and early 30s?
And if your answer is, because these are better actors than the younger options, then... no. Just no. These are not exactly master thespians here. Take Asa Germann, who plays Sam, and is 1/8 Jewish. (This will make his father, Greg Germann, the only man in the cast of "Ally McBeal", 1/4.) To call Asa's line reading stunted does not do it justice. And if he has to show any emotion... you might as well get the same response from a door knob. Most of his cast mates are not exactly better.
But, sure, the show is watchable despite the stunted acting. We just have to close our eyes when penises explode.
Verdict: **Barely a Jew**.
