Catherine de' Medici

Catherine de' Medici, born into the illustrious Florentine House of Medici, was a scion of one of Italy's most prominent and powerful families. Her lineage was certainly impressive, though not, it seems, in the particular way we're looking for. Her origins were firmly entrenched in European aristocracy, not, shall we say, the tribes of Israel. She was, for all intents and purposes, entirely Gentile. No secret Seder plates here.

As for her identity, Catherine was a devout Catholic, a faith she adhered to throughout her life. There's no historical evidence, not even the tiniest whisper of a rumor, suggesting she ever harbored any Jewish leanings or connections. She was too busy navigating the treacherous political waters of 16th-century France to explore alternative spiritual paths.

Her kvel-worthiness from a Jewish perspective is, regrettably, nil. While she was undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with in European history, influencing policies and culture, her actions did not, by any stretch of the imagination, bring nachas to the Jewish people. Her legacy is entwined with the French monarchy, not with any notable contributions or affiliations that would earn her a spot on our metaphorical K-score leaderboard.
