Marc Chagall

Marc Chagall's canvases explode with a vibrant, dreamlike intensity, often depicting floating fiddlers, upside-down lovers, and green-faced cows. It's safe to say he wasn't sketching still lifes of fruit bowls. His work is so unmistakably Jewish, one might suspect he painted with gefilte fish instead of oil paints, if only it produced such vivid hues.
