Cillian Murphy
Cillian Murphy, the pride of Cork, Ireland, has graced our screens in a variety of roles, from a terrifying Scarecrow in "Batman Begins" to a haunted physicist in "Oppenheimer." His ability to inhabit complex characters is undeniable, but alas, none of them have been Jewish.
Despite a certain intensity that might lead one to believe he's secretly harboring a deep, ancient pain, Murphy's background is decidedly not Semitic. Born and raised in Ireland, his heritage is as green as the Emerald Isle itself, with a dash of whatever it is that makes Irish actors so compelling.
While his career has certainly blossomed, bringing him international acclaim and a good deal of kvell-worthiness for his fans, it's not the kind of kvell that comes from a shared tribal lineage. He has yet to perform a b’nai mitzvah or even convincingly play a character who has, though we're open to being surprised.
