Claude Monet, the patriarch of Impressionism, was responsible for more canvases depicting haystacks and water lilies than anyone in human history. His entire existence seemed to revolve around capturing fleeting moments of light, which, while visually stunning, doesn't exactly scream "Shabbat dinner." He was too busy chasing sunsets to chase a minyan.

Born Oscar-Claude Monet in Paris, his family roots were firmly planted in the Catholic soil of France. There’s not even a whisper of a crypto-Jew ancestor hiding in the attic or a distant relative who dabbled in Kabbalah. He was French through and through, enjoying his Norman landscapes and Parisian boulevards without any discernible connection to the Tribe.

However, one cannot deny the sheer kvell-worthiness of his artistic output. Monet didn't just paint; he redefined how the world saw light and color, essentially inventing a new way of seeing. His influence is so pervasive that even your grandma's floral tablecloth likely owes a stylistic debt to his brushstrokes. A massive contribution to culture, indeed, even if his canvases never featured a menorah.
