Cory Booker, a man whose exuberance rivals a megachurch preacher on Sunday, has carved out a fascinating niche in American politics. He’s the kind of politician who can quote Maya Angelou, break up a mugging, and then somehow tie it all back to bipartisan cooperation. One might say he's less a senator and more a public performance artist, exceptionally good at making you believe in the inherent goodness of humanity (and also, himself.)

Booker's personal life has been a subject of minor fascination, especially his pre-Senate bachelorhood. He dated Rosario Dawson for a while, providing enough tabloid fodder to sustain several slow news cycles. Thankfully for his constituents, he generally keeps his dramatic flair for the Senate floor.

While his Jewishness is, shall we say, non-existent, Booker has certainly embraced elements of New Jersey's diverse population. He's spoken at synagogues, celebrated Hanukkah, and generally proven himself to be an ally. It’s almost as if he’s trying to collect all the religious holidays like Pokémon cards, but for political capital. And hey, it seems to be working.
