Des O'Connor

Des O'Connor died recently. Virtually unknown on this side of the pond, he was a rather famous comedian and TV host over in the UK, presiding over various quiz and talk shows. Kinda like their Drew Carey or Jimmy Kimmel? Take your pick.

In any case, O'Connor was Jewish, which is like — oh! — we searched for years for an O'Jew, sweeping the outskirts of the Internet to get any catches. (Australian aboriginal footballer Michael O'Loughlin FTW!) Des even claimed that he was the only O'Connor ever to have a bar mitzvah...

He might be right, of course. As rare as O'Jews are, O'Connors are just a small subset of that. We did profile partly Jewish Cardinal O'Connor, but that's a hard no on a bar mitzvah.

Once possible exception, however. Des did have a brother William...

Verdict: **Jew**.
