Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, a man whose physique is as sculpted as a Grecian statue (and arguably as ancient), has graced our screens for decades, first in the squared circle of professional wrestling and then in the infinitely more lucrative — and less painful — world of Hollywood blockbusters. His roles often involve saving the world, punching bad guys, or, in a refreshing change of pace, punching bad guys while saving the world. It's a winning formula, much like his smile, which is as blinding as a thousand suns, or perhaps, a thousand menorah candles on the eighth night of Hanukkah. (Not that he'd know, of course.)

While his charisma is certainly biblical in proportion, Johnson’s heritage is a vibrant tapestry of Black Nova Scotian and Samoan ancestry. A fascinating mix, no doubt, but one that, alas, does not include any historical detours through the Holy Land. No ancient Hebrew patriarchs here, unless you count his ability to multiply box office returns, which some might argue is a modern-day miracle in itself.

So, unfortunately for those hoping for a new, extremely large addition to the Chosen People, "The Rock" remains firmly outside the Beit Knesset. He's delivered plenty of "People's Elbows" but never a Kiddush cup. His catchphrases are iconic, but none of them are "L'Chaim!" Perhaps if Hollywood ever makes a prequel to "The Ten Commandments" where Moses wrestles a pharaoh, he'd be a shoe-in. Until then, we'll just have to appreciate his undeniable talent for, well, rocking, without the "Jew" part.
