Edward Fredkin
Jewish physicist Edward Fredkin was also pioneering computer scientist, who coined the concept of "digital physics" that suggests that the universe could just be an output of a computer program. While we'd love to spend time discussing that (and we can spend A LOT of time discussing that!), we will instead zero in on Fredkin's paradox.
The first part of the paradox says that "the more equally attractive two alternatives seem, the harder it can be to choose between them". Here, let us demonstrate.
Let's say you need to buy a hat for everyday use and the store only has two choices. (Perhaps you time traveled to the Soviet Union? Scratch that, they didn't have baseball caps in the Soviet Union.) Which hat do you buy? (Click on your hat of choice.)
