We thought we knew the deal with El Greco. It's right in the name: The Greek, Domenikos Theotokopoulos, moved from Crete to Spain and painted some morbid, morbid pictures.

But then...

The evidence? Flimsy at best. He lived in Toledo, which had a sizable Jewish population. He had Jewish neighbors. He potentially had Jewish mistresses. None of it seems to add up.

Considering how morbid El Greco's paintings are, there is a chance, right?
