Elizabeth Arden, the visionary behind the eponymous cosmetics empire, was born Florence Nightingale Graham in rural Canada, a fact she spent much of her life meticulously attempting to obscure. She wasn't just selling face cream; she was selling an entire persona, and her humble origins simply didn't fit the gilded narrative.

Her business acumen, however, was undeniable. She was a pioneer in the beauty industry, pushing concepts like scientific skincare and salon experiences that are now commonplace. She also famously provided lipstick to suffragettes marching for the right to vote, proving that even revolutionary movements could benefit from a good shade of red.

Despite her carefully crafted image and her reported attempts to marry into British aristocracy (which, alas, never quite panned out), there is absolutely no indication that Elizabeth Arden had any connection whatsoever to Judaism. Her aspirations leaned more towards English country estates than synagogue pews.

So, while she certainly left her mark on the faces of countless women (and even men, though she might not admit it), her legacy is firmly rooted in retail and reinvention, not in the Tribe.
