Born into a prominent New York family, Elizabeth Cady Stanton didn't just sit around sipping tea. She was a radical for her time, demanding women's right to vote, own property, and even divorce abusive husbands. Clearly, she hadn't yet discovered the joy of keeping up appearances.

While her partnership with Susan B. Anthony is legendary, Stanton's intellectual prowess often drove the movement's agenda. She wrote speeches, resolutions, and even the "Declaration of Sentiments" for the Seneca Falls Convention, proving that behind every great movement, there's usually a formidable woman with a pen.

Her later years saw her advocating for even more progressive (and controversial) causes, including critiques of organized religion. This might explain why she never quite made it into the synagogue's sisterhood, but certainly earned her a spot in history books, and arguably, on a few protest signs.
