Esther Lederberg

We have previously profiled physicist Joshua Lederberg, giving him a rather high score. After all, he won a Nobel and was a pioneer in astrobiology. (It's a thing!)

As mentioned in his profile, Lederberg got his Nobel for proving that bacteria mate. (Sexy!) He didn't do that research alone.

Now, most (if not all) award-winning scientists get help from students or associates, while leading the work themselves. In Lederberg's case, his research was a true partnership, but he was the only one who got all the accolades.

That partner? Esther, his wife.

The least we can do is give Esther as high a score as her husband...
