Florence Nightingale, a name practically synonymous with nurses, was born into a wealthy British family who, naturally, expected her to marry well and live a life of leisured domesticity. Nightingale, however, had other plans, hearing a "call from God" to devote her life to caring for the sick. Apparently, God felt the nursing profession needed a glow-up.

Despite her family's fervent disapproval (imagine turning down a perfectly good social season for that!), Nightingale pursued her passion, eventually making her way to the squalor of military hospitals during the Crimean War. There, her meticulous record-keeping and insistence on sanitation dramatically reduced death rates, turning her into a national icon. Who knew data analysis could be so… heroic?

While her contributions to public health are undeniable, her connection to the tribe remains, shall we say, faint. Unless "keeping everything incredibly clean" is a long-lost Jewish custom we're unaware of, Nightingale's legacy is rooted firmly in gentile grit, not Jewish genesis. She was, in essence, a pioneer of sterile environments, long before anyone thought to call a brisket "kosher."
