Born in France, Georges Sorel made a name for himself as a philosopher and theorist, most famously for his contributions to revolutionary syndicalism. His work, particularly "Reflections on Violence," championed the idea of myth and general strike as drivers of social change, influencing a rather wide (and often unsettling) spectrum of political movements, from anarchists to fascists.

Sorel was, it turns out, utterly gentile. His philosophy, however, proved rather portable, adaptable by various groups who probably didn't read it too closely but liked the sound of "violence" and "myth" as revolutionary tools.

His intellectual journey was, shall we say, eclectic, moving from Marxism to monarchism and then back to something else entirely. Such ideological fluidity might suggest a deep philosophical quest, or perhaps just someone who enjoyed arguing with everyone, regardless of the team.

While his ideas certainly had an impact, bringing much nachas to some very questionable characters, he gets a solid zero on the Jewish front. No bagels, no bar mitzvahs, just a lot of theories about social upheaval.
