Gloria Estefan

Gloria Estefan, born Gloria María Milagrosa Fajardo García, rose to international fame as the lead singer of the Miami Sound Machine. Her infectious Latin pop rhythms dominated the airwaves, making her a global superstar. She’s won numerous awards, sold millions of records, and even had a successful Broadway musical about her life. Not bad for someone who isn't afraid of a little conga line.

While her achievements are undeniably impressive, and one might even kvell at her ability to seamlessly transition from music icon to shrewd businesswoman, there's absolutely no indication of any Jewish heritage. Her family tree, as far as we can tell, is thoroughly Cuban and Spanish Catholic, with not a gefilte fish in sight.

So, while we appreciate her contributions to the world of music and her general fabulousness, Gloria Estefan remains, unequivocally, not a Jew. We’re still waiting for her to record a Hanukkah album, but we’re not holding our breath.
