Gordon Moore, an American businessman and engineer, co-founded Intel Corporation in 1968, forever altering the landscape of computing. His name is synonymous with Moore's Law, his prescient observation from 1965 that the number of transistors in an integrated circuit doubles approximately every two years.

While this prediction wasn't etched in stone tablets, it proved remarkably accurate for decades, guiding the semiconductor industry and fueling the relentless pace of technological advancement. One could argue it’s less a law of nature and more a self-fulfilling prophecy for anyone smart enough to listen.

Moore was raised in a Presbyterian household, and there's no indication of any Jewish heritage or personal identification with Judaism. So, despite his immense contributions to making our phones faster and our laptops thinner, he remains firmly outside the tribe, at least in the traditional sense.

He generously contributed to philanthropy through the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, focusing on environmental conservation, patient care, and scientific research. His impact on society was truly monumental, even if he never once uttered "Oy vey" in a semiconductor lab.
