Guram Panjikidze, born in Tbilisi, Georgia, carved out a significant literary career in the Soviet era, penning numerous novels, short stories, and plays. His work often explored complex psychological themes and ethical dilemmas, frequently against backdrops of historical events or speculative futures. We're pretty sure he wasn't exploring the complexities of being a Jew in the USSR, however.

While Panjikidze’s contributions to Georgian literature are undeniable, earning him accolades and a place in the literary canon, his output never veered into anything remotely Semitic. His achievements, though commendable, simply don't resonate with the particular "kvell-worthiness" we seek for this esteemed publication. No matzo balls, no kvelling, just good old Georgian prose.

Therefore, despite his obvious talent and literary impact within Georgia and beyond, Panjikidze stands as a testament to the fact that not everyone, no matter how accomplished, can be a Jew. And that's perfectly fine by us. Someone has to write all those other books, after all.
