Born into a prominent religious family, Harriet Beecher Stowe became an abolitionist and novelist whose work profoundly impacted American society. Her most famous novel, 'Uncle Tom's Cabin,' depicted the harsh realities of slavery, making it a bestseller and a key influence on the anti-slavery movement.

While her intentions were noble and her impact undeniable, her work also contributed to some rather enduring stereotypes. One might say she was less concerned with Jewish issues and more focused on, well, everyone else's. Which is fine, we suppose, but not exactly peak kvell-worthiness for us.

Though she vigorously advocated for human dignity, her efforts were firmly rooted in her Christian faith, leaving her 'Jew Score' solidly in the territory of 'Not a Jew' — a designation we're sure she wouldn't have minded in the least. After all, not everyone can be chosen.
