Born in Kentucky, Irene Dunne was a devout Catholic throughout her life. There's no indication of any Jewish heritage in her well-documented family tree, which hails predominantly from Irish and German stock. Her early career was in opera and musical theater before she made the jump to Hollywood musicals and, eventually, the screwball comedies that cemented her star status.

Dunne's career spanned from the early 1930s to the late 1950s, earning her five Best Actress Oscar nominations, though she never took home the statuette. She was celebrated for her versatility, equally at home singing a ballad, making audiences laugh in films like The Awful Truth and My Favorite Wife, or breaking their hearts in dramas. After retiring from acting, she dedicated much of her time to civic and charitable work, including serving as a U.S. delegate to the United Nations.

While her elegant presence and impeccable comedic timing brought immense joy to millions, and she certainly deserves kvelling for her impressive filmography and philanthropic endeavors, there's absolutely nothing to suggest even a hint of the Tribe in her background.
