We've never seen "Life After Beth", a zombie comedy movie from a decade ago, because we've had our fill of zombie movies, and even zombie comedy movies. "Shaun of the Dead" is fantastic, and "Zombieland" is really good, so why do we need more? (Let's not forget the original, the "Evil Dead" franchise.)

Because "Life After Beth" has Jewish zombies?

Apparently, Jeff Baena, the film's writer and director, made the zombies Jewish because Jews "would be the prime people to come back as zombies". His words!

Before you scream antisemitism (which would be rather strange, because Baena is Jewish), his thinking is explained: "Jewish people don't do autopsies, and they don't embalm people. Their bodies weren't as mutilated after death." You see, it all adds up! We can only admire such meticulous logic!

Of course, human flesh is not considered kosher, so these Jewish zombies would certainly have an issue with that. (Unless they are part of a large percentage of Jews that don't keep kosher?) Is that discussed in the movie? Are we actually going to have to watch "Life After Beth" now?
