Jessica Capshaw
Over the years of running this website, we've ran into all kinds of peculiar parent-offspring combinations that result in a wide variety of scores and verdicts. Well, here might be a first:
Jessica Capshaw: has a Jewish mother, but is not a Jew herself. No, not "Borderline", not even "Barely". Not a Jew!
We've honestly never heard of Jessica before seeing her in an ad for some network spin-off cop show that is bound to be canceled a year from now. She did spend a decade on "Grey's Anatomy", but we can be forgiven for ignoring that.
The explanation is quite simple: even though Jessica's mother is definitely a Jew, she wasn't born one. Of course, that last name is a dead giveaway: we're talking about Kate Capshaw, who converted to Judaism after marrying Steven Spielberg. Jessica, who was 15 at the time, did not automatically follow suit. Instead, she is the token goy in her very Jewy family.
And the exception that proves the rule that having a Jewish mother makes one Jewish?
