Born a French peasant girl, Joan of Arc became a national hero for her pivotal role in the Hundred Years' War. Claiming divine guidance, she led the French army to victory at Orléans, a feat that would make anyone kvell, regardless of their personal faith. Her career was, however, cut short when she was captured by the Burgundians, transferred to the English, and subsequently tried and executed for heresy in 1431. Not exactly the kind of "nachas" her parents were probably hoping for. But hey, she did get canonized as a saint 500 years later, so that's something, right?

Naturally, the "Jew or Not Jew" database has no record of Joan of Arc's Jewish ancestry. Unless "divine guidance" is a clever euphemism we're not privy to, she was a devout Catholic, and staunchly so. We're fairly certain she never even met a Jew, let alone claimed to be one. Her religious fervor was directed elsewhere.

So, no, not a Jew. Not even a little bit. We’re giving her a perfect K score, though, because leading an army to victory while still a teenager is pretty impressive, even if it didn't involve any rabbis. Also, getting your own holiday in France is a pretty big deal. Just don't ask us about the whole "burnt at the stake" part.
