John Legend
John Legend, born John Roger Stephens, apparently chose his stage name due to its 'olde-timey preacher name' vibe, which is ironic, considering his actual origins are in Springfield, Ohio. He rose to prominence with his 2004 album "Get Lifted," which, despite its title, did not feature any Hebrew prayers.
Legend is known for his soulful voice and piano skills, which have earned him critical acclaim and a devoted fanbase. He’s also known for his activism and social justice work, though we're still waiting for him to produce a concept album about the Maccabees. Maybe for Hanukkah?
He achieved EGOT status in 2018, making him one of the few individuals to have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award. This impressive feat, while certainly kvell-worthy for his parents, doesn’t quite translate to a high K-score for us without some sort of discernible Jewish content in his output.
