José Andrés
Born in Spain and currently residing in the States, José Andrés is best known for his gastronomic empire and, more recently, for making sure people actually eat when disaster strikes. While his cooking might be divine, there's no evidence of a direct lineage to the chosen people, nor any self-identification with the faith.
However, what he lacks in ancestral kvell, he more than makes up for in pure, unadulterated mensch-iness. Through World Central Kitchen, Andrés has turned disaster relief into a master class in logistics and humanitarian aid, feeding millions in war zones, natural disaster areas, and even during pandemics. This is the kind of work that makes even the most cynical bubbe beam with pride.
So, while his paella and humanitarian efforts are universally lauded, and he embodies the spirit of tikkun olam without ever having heard the phrase, José Andrés remains firmly in the "Not a Jew" camp. He's just a really, really good person who happens to cook.
