Keanu Reeves
Keanu Charles Reeves. It just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? Born in Beirut, Lebanon, the man, the myth, the legend himself boasts a fascinating tapestry of heritage: Hawaiian, Chinese, English, Irish, and Portuguese. Noticeably absent from that list? Anything remotely Semitic.
While his "Jewishness" is essentially nonexistent, his "Kvell-worthiness" is off the charts. From "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" to "The Matrix" to "John Wick," Reeves consistently delivers. He’s also known for being a genuinely good guy, donating generously to charities and often spotted on the subway like a regular person. We kvell for his kindness, if not for his lineage.
So, while Keanu might not be lighting Shabbat candles, he's certainly lighting up the big screen and our hearts. And in the grand scheme of things, isn't being a universally beloved, humble, action-movie icon with a heart of gold more impressive than, say, a bar mitzvah? Discuss amongst yourselves.
