We thoroughly enjoyed the "MobLand" television series, with Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and Tom Hardy chewing up scenery as London gangsters, but we have one major gripe: the title. Could it be even more generic?

Sure, titles are not that important, but take any top show, from "I Love Lucy" to "Sex and the City" to "Mad Men" to "Breaking Bad"... The title often gives it that one extra oomph. With "MobLand", it fails with a heavy-handed thud. Mob... Land. It's all spelled out right there in pure obviousness. It's a show about the mob, and takes place... in a land. Somewhere. (London, as we already said.)

It's not just the generic aspect that annoys us, it's the capital L! Why is not "Mobland"? Even "Mob Land" would be better, but no, this is "MobLand"... (It's annoying to spell it like that for the third time already!)

Since this is Jew or Not Jew and not Grammar Kvetching Weekly, we need to tell you that Lara Purver, who plays Bella on the show, is Jewish. If you haven't watched "MobLand" (ugh), you might have seen her as Irene Adler on what is still the best Sherlock Holmes adaptation of all time, the one simply named "Sherlock".

Now that's a quality title!
