Margot Betti Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany, to Otto and Edith Frank. From a young age, she was considered the "good girl" of the family, excelling in school and exhibiting a quiet, pious demeanor, especially compared to her vivacious younger sister, Anne.

Like many German Jews in the 1930s, the Frank family relocated to Amsterdam to escape Nazi persecution. Margot continued her education there, pursuing aspirations of becoming a nurse. However, as the Nazi grip tightened on the Netherlands, these dreams, along with her freedom, were systematically stripped away.

In July 1942, after Margot received a call-up notice for a Nazi labor camp, the family went into hiding in the now-famous Secret Annex. For over two years, Margot lived in cramped conditions, meticulously studying Latin and shorthand, and dedicating herself to her faith. Her diary, sadly, was not preserved, leaving much of her inner world to historical conjecture.

Deported to Auschwitz and later Bergen-Belsen, Margot succumbed to typhus in early 1945, just weeks before the camp's liberation. Though often overshadowed by her sister Anne, Margot's story is a profound testament to the quiet dignity and immense suffering of countless individuals during the Holocaust, unmistakably a Jew in every sense of the word.
