Megan Rapinoe, a name whispered reverently in some circles and with a groan in others, is a soccer player of considerable repute. She's graced the world stage, scoring goals and headlines in equal measure, leading the US Women's National Team to multiple victories, much to the delight of American soccer fans (and likely the chagrin of their opponents). Few can argue with her athletic prowess.

While her on-field achievements are undeniable, Rapinoe is perhaps equally known for her off-field activism. A staunch advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, gender equality, and racial justice, she's never shied away from using her platform to voice her opinions, even when those opinions ruffle a few feathers, including those of sitting presidents.

So, is she a Jew? A quick scan of her very public life reveals no discernible connection to Judaism. No ancient lineage, no Shabbat dinners, no secret affinity for gefilte fish. Her identity seems firmly rooted in the secular, albeit politically charged, world of American sports.

Yet, for her outspokenness and her willingness to stand up for what she believes in, even against powerful forces, some might kvell a little. Not in a "she's one of ours" way, but in a "go, fight, win" way that transcends religious boundaries. If only she’d embrace a nice challah now and then. Maybe a menorah for the holidays?
