Michael Chiklis

When we started this website all the way back in 2006, we thought that Michael Chiklis would be one of our first profiles. After all, he starred on "The Shield", which was both groundbreaking and popular, he was The Thing (Jew!) in the first "Fantastic Four" movie (neither groundbreaking nor popular, but a promise of a franchise), and... he was often reported to be Jewish!

Well, that last part turned out to be not exactly correct. Chiklis, of goyishe Greek and Irish background, reportedly raised his kids Jewish and attended a Los Angeles synagogue, but never converted. So that led to him sitting in our unpublished queue for... how long? 20 years now? Geez!

As for Chiklis' cinematic endeavors, "The Shield" wrapped up in 2008, and he hasn't exactly had another television hit since. (We will gloss over his portrayal of Red Auerbach (Jew!) in the very flawed "Winning Time".) The superhero stuff didn't pan out either; Chiklis continued to the god-awful sequel, "Rise of the Silver Surfer", that killed the franchise. (There have been two attempts to revive it since, with not exactly stellar results.)
