Wait? What? Huh? No? China-what? That can't be right?

Well, it's right (but also pretty wrong). Michelle Gurevich (whew, that looks a lot better, doesn't it?) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, who, for a while, was known as... Chinawoman.

No, she is not even part Chinese. Michelle is Canadian; her parents were Russian Jewish immigrants. She now lives in Europe (we found out about her from some Danish show we were watching on Netflix), but, yeah... Chinawoman.

According to Michelle, she "chose the name ironically the first time I opened GarageBand", which... okay? (That being said, who among us did not have a now-lame/embarrassing AOL screen name?) It stuck as she became (somewhat) famous, until she realized that it wasn't appropriate, and decided to perform under her real name.

That being said, are we profiling Michelle if she was not Chinawoman?
