Miles Dewey Davis III, born in Alton, Illinois, was not just a musician; he was an institution. A man who single-handedly redefined jazz multiple times over, from be-bop to cool jazz, hard bop, modal jazz, and even jazz fusion, proving that even a genre as notoriously snobby as jazz could, in fact, evolve. And he did it all while looking effortlessly cool, which, let's be honest, is half the battle.

Given that his ancestry traces back through multiple generations of African Americans, and his religious upbringing was in the AME church, there's precisely zero chance of finding a secret menorah tucked away in his family tree. Not every musical genius needs a dash of gefilte fish in their past to achieve greatness, although it certainly doesn't hurt.

However, in terms of sheer kvell-worthiness, Miles Davis is off the charts. The man was a constant innovator, a trendsetter, and an uncompromising artist who never settled. His contributions to music are so profound that even if he wasn't Jewish, any self-respecting bubbe would have proudly claimed him as 'one of ours' after hearing just five minutes of Kind of Blue.
