Miriam Adelson, née Farbstein, was born in Tel Aviv to Polish-Jewish parents who fled Europe before the Holocaust. She earned a medical degree from Tel Aviv University and later specialized in addiction medicine, founding clinics in both Tel Aviv and Las Vegas. Her medical background, however, is often overshadowed by her immense wealth and subsequent political influence.

She married Sheldon Adelson, the late casino magnate, in 1991, cementing her position as a formidable force in Republican and Likud party politics. Together, they poured hundreds of millions into campaigns, becoming singular figures in the world of high-stakes political donations. One might say they put all their chips on red, white, and blue... and blue and white.

Adelson has been a vocal and consistent advocate for Israel, funding numerous organizations and initiatives that support its security and a right-wing political agenda. Her philanthropy extends beyond politics, though, with significant contributions to medical research, particularly in drug abuse. It seems even billionaires can't escape the urge to give back, especially when it aligns with their deeply held convictions. Who knew giving could be so strategic?
