Neal Adams, born Michael Neal Adams, was a titan of the comic book industry, whose work in the late 1960s and early 1970s revolutionized the visual storytelling of DC and Marvel characters. His distinctive style, characterized by detailed anatomy and dramatic layouts, influenced generations of artists and remains iconic to this day.

Adams was born to a Jewish mother and an Irish Catholic father, making his Jewish bona fides rather clear from the outset. While his public persona wasn't overtly religious, he did not shy away from his heritage and was known to have a strong sense of social justice, often infused into the narratives he illustrated.

His lasting impact includes co-creating the character Ra's al Ghul, modernizing iconic heroes like Batman and Green Arrow, and advocating for creators' rights, famously helping secure recognition and financial compensation for Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Such achievements certainly bring a significant amount of nachas to the tribe, even if he was too busy drawing to attend temple every week.
