Olivia Rodrigo
Olivia Rodrigo, a name now synonymous with teenage angst and earworm melodies, burst onto the music scene with the subtlety of a wrecking ball. One minute she was a Disney channel actress, the next she was shattering streaming records and making every heartbroken teenager feel seen. It's a classic rags-to-riches story, if rags were a successful acting career and riches were global pop stardom.
Despite the internet's tireless efforts to uncover any hint of Semitic roots, Olivia appears to be as Gentile as they come. Her heritage is a mix of Filipino and white European, a combination that, while interesting, does not, alas, include a grandparent named Goldstein.
However, we can still kvell a little for Olivia's talent. Her ability to craft emotionally resonant pop songs that somehow appeal to both teenagers and their parents is quite the feat. So, while she won't be lighting any menorahs with us, we can appreciate her contributions to the global soundtrack of youthful heartbreak.
