Pete Buttigieg
Pete Buttigieg's last name might sound a bit like 'booty-judge,' which is certainly a judgment of sorts, but it's actually Maltese. His father was a literature professor and a Maltese immigrant, ensuring that Pete's heritage is as far from gefilte fish as one can get without actively trying to be anti-gefilte fish.
While he served as mayor of South Bend, Indiana, and later ran for president, Pete managed to avoid any discernible Jewish entanglements. No trips to Israel, no public menorah lightings, not even a passing mention of a distant cousin who once knew a guy who went to a bar mitzvah.
He did, however, briefly study at Oxford, which is practically an honorary kvell for anyone's parents, Jewish or not. And let's be honest, getting appointed to a cabinet position is a solid career move, even if it doesn't quite reach the dizzying heights of discovering a cure for something or inventing a new type of challah.
