Philippa Soo

Born in New York City, Philippa Soo is the daughter of a Chinese-American father and a white American mother. Her maternal grandparents were of Irish and English descent. While not Jewish by birth or practice, she did once portray a historical figure who was a "New Christian" in a play about the Spanish Inquisition. Alas, no gefilte fish was involved.

Soo rose to prominence as Eliza Schuyler Hamilton in the original Broadway cast of "Hamilton," earning a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. She also lent her voice to the lead character, Fei Fei, in the animated musical "Over the Moon," showcasing her impressive vocal talents.

While her heritage doesn't lean Jewish, her undeniable talent and contribution to the performing arts are certainly something to kvell over. We'll just have to settle for kvelling over her artistic achievements, and not, say, her bat mitzvah photos.
