Rodrigo Rosenberg Marzano
On May 10, 2009, lawyer Rodrigo Rosenberg Marzano was cycling in his native Guatemala City, when he was shot dead. This was not a random murder: one bullet in the back was followed by four to the head. Gruesome, to say the least.
When Rosenberg Marzano was laid to rest, a previously-recorded video was played for the grieving audience. In the video, Rosenberg Marzano claimed that the President of Guatemala, Alvaro Colom, wanted him murdered, and should be the one to blame if that was to occur.
Here's the kicker: Rosenberg Marzano staged his own death. Bet you didn't see that twist coming!
Now, the investigation was incredibly convoluted, but apparently Rosenberg Marzano hired cousins of his ex-wife to murder a supposed blackmailer... who turned out to be Rosenberg Marzano himself. All of this begs the simple question... for the love of G-d, why? WHY?
If the answer was to spark political change in Guatemala, it was all for naught. Yes, it obviously led to a massive scandal, but the investigation cleared Colom from any involvement. He served out his term, but was eventually arrested in 2018 for corruption. Not that Rosenberg Marzano could give a damn at that point.
Was Rosenberg Marzano Jewish? Despite the surname, there is no evidence that he was. Besides, no Jew in their right might would come up with that scheme!
