Roxane Gay has made a name for herself as a formidable voice in contemporary literature and cultural criticism. Her essays and books, particularly "Bad Feminist" and "Hunger: A Memoir of My Body," have garnered widespread acclaim for their candor and nuanced exploration of complex social issues. Clearly, a woman who isn't afraid to tell it like it is, or how she sees it, which is almost as good.

Despite her clear literary prowess and influential commentary, there is no indication that Roxane Gay has any personal or ancestral ties to Judaism. Her background is rooted elsewhere, far from the land of bagels and kvetching.

Nevertheless, her impact on contemporary thought and her willingness to challenge norms bring a certain... nachas... to those who appreciate a good intellectual tussle. She scores high on the Kvell-worthiness scale for her sheer writing talent and her ability to provoke thought, regardless of religious affiliation. If only she had a Jewish grandmother, we'd really be in business.
