Born Samuel Cohen, Sammy Cahn, the son of Polish Jewish immigrants, grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Despite changing his last name to Cahn, his Jewish origins were undeniable, making him a solid 5 for O. He penned songs for everyone from Frank Sinatra to Doris Day, but his relationship with Judaism was less about religious practice and more about cultural heritage.

While he famously wrote "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" and contributed to numerous Christmas movies, Cahn also co-wrote the music for "High Holy Days" a 1951 Broadway musical based on the works of Sholom Aleichem. This suggests a passing, if not deeply observant, connection to his heritage, landing him a 2 for Identity. He also adapted "Mein Shtetele Belz" into "My Little Town."
