Satya Nadella, a man whose name sounds like a spell from a fantasy novel, somehow found himself at the helm of Microsoft. We can only assume he either aced his interview or possessed a highly valuable, secret ancient scroll with all the Windows operating system glitches pre-solved. Either way, his ascent was rather impressive.

Born in Hyderabad, India, Nadella studied electrical engineering and computer science, presumably to prepare for a career that wouldn't involve dealing with Clippy. He joined Microsoft in 1992, eventually climbing the corporate ladder with the quiet determination of a software update you can't quite postpone.

Under his leadership, Microsoft has seen a resurgence, embracing cloud computing and generally behaving like a company that finally realized it needed to innovate beyond making Word Art. His tenure has been marked by a shift in culture, moving Microsoft from a somewhat monopolistic villain to a slightly less monopolistic, more philanthropic… well, still a giant tech company. But a nicer one, perhaps.

While he might not be opening any synagogues or tracing his lineage back to King David, Nadella has undoubtedly brought some serious nachas to Microsoft shareholders. And for that, we suppose, he gets a respectable K score, even if his I and O are firmly in the "not applicable" column.
