Canadian auteur Sidney J. Furie directed many movies that we have never heard of (but also two that we have), and might just be at the center of one of the biggest what-ifs in Hollywood history for a movie he didn't direct. But first, let's talk about the two that he did.

The first is "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace", which might just be the worst Superman movie ever, which says quite a lot. Riddled with budget cuts that resulted in the worst special effects this side of... well, nothing (these might be the worst special effects ever), and a plot with holes the size of the Fortress of Solitude (it's a rather large fortress), it's... not good.

The second is "Ladybugs", where Rodney Dangerfield (RIP) makes Jonathan Brandis (RIP) cross-dress so that the girls soccer team that he coaches can win more games. This seemed problematic even back in 1992, and yet, this movie was made. It's... not good.

So what is the movie that Furie did not make? Well, the man who would bring you "Superman IV" and "Ladybugs" was offered the job to direct... (DRUMROLL) "The Godfather". He was replaced in pre-production when the producers decided he wasn't ethnic enough for that movie.

You see, Sidney was born Sholom, not Salvatore...
