Sundar Pichai
Born in Chennai, India, Sundar Pichai ascended the corporate ladder with a speed that would make even the most ambitious Silicon Valley types blush. From humble beginnings at Google in 2004, he swiftly rose to lead product development for Chrome, and then Android, before taking the helm of the entire company, and then its parent, Alphabet. One might say he's achieved the ultimate form of digital world domination, just without the laser-equipped sharks.
While his business acumen is undeniable, his connection to Judaism is approximately zero. No ancestral ties, no personal declarations, and certainly no kvelling from the tribes. His background is firmly rooted in Hinduism, a fact that, for the purposes of this esteemed publication, puts him squarely in the "Not a Jew" camp.
Despite his non-Jewish status, Pichai's impact on the world, and indeed on our kvell-worthiness scoring system (which relies heavily on his search engine for research), cannot be overstated. He presides over an empire that shapes how billions of people interact with information, each other, and, presumably, their various belief systems. One could even argue that he’s doing a good job of not being Jewish.
