We're still watching "The Boys", even though our enthusiasm has waned since the show burst on the scene in 2019. Back then, it was a prime riff on the stale superhero genre; it has evolved into a blatant satire of the current US administration.

Don't get us wrong! The idiocy of the our "leaders" needs to be ridiculed, but satire works best when it's more subtle. Honestly, if we wanted to watch a delusional narcissist turn the US into a fascist state, we would just turn on the news.

But we're not here to criticize television shows (as much as that often seems the case), we're here to figure out potential Jewishness of characters on these television shows. On "The Boys", there is absolutely nothing to suggest that the #1 sycophant, the despicable The Deep, is even remotely Jewish. Yet, here were are, in his profile. What gives?

While his "real" name was never said on the show, The Deep was originally conceived as "Kevin Moskowitz", which was visible if one used Prime's X-Ray feature that showed more info about actors and characters. His name finally appeared in an episode of the spin-off "Gen V", where he was clearly shown as "Kevin Kohler". That's how he's been referred to since. So now what?

It's quite possible that with his boss Homelander's faux-Messianic overtones, The Deep decided to appear to be less Jewish. (Perhaps his father is a Moskowitz, his mother a Kohler? Or vice versa?) Or it's possible that the show's creators decided to remove the possibility of him being Jewish. (Next reveal: his middle name also starts with a K?) Honestly, we've already spent too much time thinking about this.

Our other problem with "The Boys"? Most of its conflicts are resolved with superhero fist fights. So much for riffing on a stale genre...
