Tilda Swinton

Tilda Swinton has, to our knowledge, zero Jewish ancestry. Not a drop. We've checked the family tree, and it branches exclusively into various shades of Scottish aristocracy and English gentry. Her full name, Katherine Mathilda Swinton, doesn't exactly scream "Shalom!" either.

She did, however, attend the rather posh West Heath Girls' School alongside none other than Princess Diana. One can only imagine the conversations around the lunch table. Perhaps they bonded over the merits of sensible cardigans or the existential dread of being a public figure.

While her Jewish bona fides are, shall we say, utterly nonexistent, her career is certainly something to kvell over. An Academy Award for Michael Clayton, memorable turns in Orlando, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and, of course, giving us all nightmares as the White Witch in The Chronicles of Narnia. She can play ethereal, menacing, or profoundly quirky, sometimes all at once. For that, we can almost forgive her for not being Jewish.
